Fluidization of variable short fiber/powder mixtures: Hydrodynamic investigation

The behavior of a particle mixture composed short fibers and silicon carbide powder in variable proportions has been experimentally investigated. study shows that the hydrodynamic bed initially is affected as soon few percent are added. minimum fluidization velocity (Umf) globally lowered intrinsic properties porous medium (equivalent diameter, porosity, flow coefficients…) altered. Several equations describing Umf function pressure considered such hydraulic diameter or Darcy Knudsen coefficients fitted. Darcy-Klinkenberg equation on one hand semi-empirical correlation based Ergün’s other hand, both adapted to describe limited number initial parameters. leads best prediction, with an absolute error less than 10%, using only temperature, percentage input
